For vegan travel lovers, there’s nothing better than a getaway bursting with plant-based deliciousness and adventure, especially when it’s pretty much on your doorstep! Self-catered accommodation can be a lifesaver for those breaks when you’d rather spend more time in nature than searching for vegan-friendly restaurants, and luckily, there are plenty of gorgeous options in the UK’s best beauty spots.

With summer stretching out in front of us, here are five of the greatest UK getaways that promise vegan-friendliness, self-catered convenience, and OMG moments in abundance. Enjoy!

1: Planted Corner, St Agnes, Cornwall

Nestled in the gorgeous corner of the UK that is St Agnes, discover Planted Cornwall – a light and airy studio stocked with all the vegan essentials you’ll need for a seaside escape. This is ideal for two people, or why not enjoy a vegan adventure holiday for one?

From here, the South West Coastal Path is all yours! The incredible Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes Head, and Perranporth are each connected by this snaking trail, with cheerful towns and grassy banks on one side and the azure blue of the sea on the other. Pockmarked with gulls and flowers (and soundtracked by the rippling of the ocean), every moment on the trail is spectacular! If you’re prepared for a full day of walking, Basset’s Cove is not to be missed.

2: King’s Reach Bed & Breakfast, Argyll, Scotland

Now to the other end of the country, where Kings Reach Bed and Breakfast awaits with a homely feel and backdrop of lush green landscape. Once you’ve set your morning up with tofu scramble, it’s time to explore the otherworldliness that is Argyll! If you’re envisioning a vegan adventure holiday, few places are as dreamy as Scotland.

Listen out for the pitter-patter of thumping tails at the Knapdale Scottish Beaver Trail, or cycle to Achnabreac Forest and feel the air cool under a canopy of dense green trees. For an adventure like no other, why not head to Castle Dounie? From here, you can peer through the gloom towards the mountain-topped island of Jura. Don’t forget a flask of vegan hot chocolate – you’ll definitely appreciate it!

3: I Should Cocoa, York

Located in a former Rowntree cocoa bean warehouse, I Should Cocoa’s beautifully furnished apartments offer a calming retreat from the bustle of York. You’ll also have your very own kitchen here, so prepare for lazy mornings with a stack of vegan pancakes! Next, it’s time to explore, and these eco-friendly apartments are an idyllic base for soaking up the magic of this walled city.

Keen hikers will love road-tripping to the nearby North Yorkshire Moors, where bushy trees, fascinating rock formations, and the sweet smell of heather await. Pull on your vegan hiking boots – this is the ultimate outdoor playground! Traverse swooping valleys, wave to sheep on your way, and look out for surprises at every turn, from foliage-fringed waterfalls to ancient stone circles.

4: Hemsall Farm, Cambridgeshire

Enjoy a truly wholesome weekend amongst the lush green Cambridgeshire countryside at Hempsall Farm, the ultimate addition to any vegan travel bucket list. You’ll feel almost completely alone amongst the farm’s six acres, except for its friendly hosts and family of rescued animals!

Listen to the tinkle of the River Ouse from your safari-style tent, sip a freshly brewed morning coffee in your very own hot tub, and toast vegan marshmallows by moonlight! You can stay on-site or follow an OS map through the patchwork of fields and meadows surrounding you, with Fen Drayton Lakes easily accessible by bike. This is a place to turn off your phone and just enjoy the quiet.

5: Pen Bryn Twrw, Wales

Pen Bryn Twrw, Wales

Set amongst 12 acres of biodiverse countryside, Idlewild Animal Sanctuary is a paradise for both rescued animals and vegan travel lovers! Listen out for a cacophony of more than 150 happy animals each morning from its rustic, self-catered farmhouse, Pen Bryn Twrw.

After you’ve made friends with the sanctuary’s sweet residents, brew a flask of hot coffee and set off into the heart of North Wales! Ethereal landscapes, rugged prettiness, and plenty of epic views await here – with Conway Morfa Beach, Aber Falls, and Carnedd Llewelyn all begging to be explored. The mountain-flanked Pen y Pass is just a short drive away, with the majestic Mount Snowdon promising a series of incredible day hiking trails!

Do you have any self-catered getaways to add to the list? I’m always looking for vegan-friendly travel experiences back at home in the UK and further afield.
