ITINERARY

Day 1Arrival Day Guatemala Airport & Transfer To Antigua

After you’ve settled into the joining hotel in Guatemala’s former capital city La Antigua, you’ll have time to explore.

Antigua is a UNESCO world heritage site and as you’re strolling around town, you’ll notice it sits in a valley, the Panchoy valley which is known as being the cultural center of Guatemala. With no end of ancient churches, appealing parks conveniently placed coffee shops and flanked by volcanoes, your adventure starts now.

There will be an early evening ‘meet and greet’ with your Vegan Adventure Holidays trip leader and other members of the group before heading out for dinner—think delicious tofu tacos with avocado, greens and a dash of lime!

Day 2Antigua Free Day & Volcano Hike Briefing

We’ll start the day with a vegan version of a typical Guatemalan breakfast, desayuno chapin. Fresh, flavourful, and oh-so-filling, this traditional dish offers a hearty combination of pan-fried plantain, salted black beans, and steaming hot tortillas.

Antigua is a fascinating place to stroll around, the city is a colonial work of art, with cobbled streets, overhanging tiled roofs and a beautiful, leafy central plaza. There’s an abundance of huge ruined churches, convents, and monasteries, a testament to a time when Antigua was the country’s capital and its main religious centre. You’ll have plenty of time today to absorb this fascinating city and there are also a number of optional activities and excursions you can choose from, including a mountain bike trip taking a vegan cookery lesson or lending a hand at the local animal rescue centre.
